Asian mining and metalworking group with operations throughout the world, a global leader in the production of nickel and palladium and one the world’s top producers of platinum and copper, is planning to sell off some of its operations located outside Asia.
The assets available for purchase specifically involve all of the group’s Australia-based divisions. These operations are sited in three different regions of central-southern Australia particularly noted for nickel production , namely Lake Johnston, Black Swan and the Cawse laterite operation. The group’s Australian division represents the world’s top intermediate nickel products exporter and successfully extracts from both forms of deposit (sulphide and laterite).
The group is also assessing the possibility of selling off its active Africa-based operations, specifically sites in Botswana and South Africa.
More detailed information will be made available following documented inquiries. The scope and technical form of the divestment remain to be established through subsequent negotiations.
